Looking Back at My Week (July 18, 2026)
I started looking at new apartments with my partner.
It'll be a big step in our relationship and exciting change of pace. We're aiming to get a floor plan with an extra bedroom so we can start building our dream PC gaming room. Also, with a bigger place, it might be time to finally get a cat... Hopefully, I'll have more exciting developments to share soon!
I got my nose pierced (finally).
It's been something I've thought about doing for a while but would ultimately reject because I felt I didn't quite have the personality or vibe for it. But when my partner expressed that he wanted to get his ears pierced, it seemed like a fun thing to do together and finally commit to the thing I've been wanting for ages. The folks at the tattoo parlor were so helpful and friendly, and it made the experience a breeze.
Anyway, it's a nostril piercing with a stud for now while it heals, but I'd like to eventually change it to a ring. I'm also already considering a septum piercing in the future. I see now why folks tend to collect piercings. They're fun!
I've gotten into solo journaling RPGs.
I learned they were a thing via a random social media post, and I was instantly enamored. TTRPGs + creative writing?? AND you can do it by yourself??? Hell yeah!
If you don't know what I'm talking about: solo journaling RPGs are basically choose-you-own adventures that you write yourself. Different games will require dice, playing cards, tarot cards, etc., to randomize story prompts, character stats, and the plot developments. The game will provide an overarching story, but you decide how your character navigates the plot. As you go, you write journal entries about what you've encountered and how you deal with it.
The game I'm playing now is called Endling by M. Allen Hall. You play as the last living human on Earth, who journeys among the ruins of civilization to fulfill a final promise. While the setting is pretty bleak, the game itself offers prompts about self-reflection, little life pleasures, and happy memories. Perhaps when I finish the game, I'll share my entries and final review of the game.
